Sevilla-June 17, 2012

Happy Father's Day!!!!

After some really late nights with his students, I decided that the best gift to give Andrew for Father's Day was some sleep.  Once we all got up and out of the apartment, we headed to the Plaza de Toros to buy tickets for tonight's bullfight.  We decided that the kids need to wait to see a real bullfight, despite their strong desire.  They really enjoyed watching the Woodberry boys fight the young bull yesterday and felt they were ready for the real thing. Andrew, Drew, Amy and Tom went with the group and had a great time.  It turns out that we made the right decision, as one matador was badly injured and a second was hurt, too.  It was not too serious, but both were taken to the hospital.  Yikes!  The kids and I had a fun evening hanging out, going for ice cream, playing on the ipad and even had a dance competition (no winner, it was a practice run!).  We even squeezed in a trip to the Hospital de los Venerables today and saw some original paintings by Valazquez (who is from Sevilla), Zuburan and Murrillo. It was a lovely building in the Barrio Santa Cruz, which used to house priests who were disabled, poor or elderly.  The church was stunning!  Happy Father's Day to all!!!!  I got to chat with my dad vis FaceTime...love this wifi!
