Madrid-July 11 & 12, 2012
We went on two day trips over the past two days-Avila and Segovia. Avila is a walled-in city and Segovia is famous for the Roman aqueduct and the alcazar (that perhaps influenced Disney's Cinderella's castle). Both trips went well and there was a lot to see. Robbie has been taking a lot of pictures and wants to start his own blog-how times have changed! We will keep you posted on that one. We had an exciting evening in Madrid thanks to the protesting miners. They built up a lot of support via social media while walking to Madrid over the past three weeks. It got a little out of hand and the police actually arrested several and injured even more(I think around 76). We were on the way to dinner and Andrew went to see what was going on while we waited for him. All of a sudden, there were tons of people running toward us and the police were close behind. I grabbed the boys and pulled them into the tourist shop nearby and Andrew soon followed. According to the news, there was a lot happening right outside of our hotel doors. Very scary. We went to dinner in the opposite direction and listened to things from our balcony. Things seem calm tonight, which happens to be the last night of the school trip. We are looking forward to having Andrew to ourselves :)
