On Friday the boys and I went and played on soccer in la Turia, which was formerly the river and is now a recreational area with walking paths, fountains, etc. We met up with Andrew and joined Susan and Marty at one of their favorite restaurants-La Comisaria. It was delicious. Everything we tried was fabulous. We ate outside and it was another gorgeous day in Valencia. Marty made sure the boys had something to eat, although they tried everything that was served(much to our delight!). They have been good about trying new things this trip. We went and checked out Marty and Susan's new apartment. Wow! It is amazing! I am so happy for them. We walked by a cute clothing store on our walk to the Kaplan's, so I made the boys stop by to check it out with me. They were not too happy about shopping, but Robbie's friend Andreu called and we met up not too far from the store. Perfect timing! We met Andreu and his father, sister and her boyfriend by the Torres de Quart. Another tower to climb-yipee! We love climbing, so I am actually not being sarcastic. We enjoyed climbing to the top and I loved to view of the city. I especially love all the blue tiled roofs seem all over Valencia. We went over to Andreu's house to play for a while and the boys had fun playing wii. We were invited to have paella with the family this Sunday, which will be another time for the boys to get together. We also had a really fun evening at Marty's magic club, La Cuchara Magica, where we were entertained by three magicians. the evening started with a dinner of paella mad eby Pepe (Marty's friend and co-magician). After dinner and dessert, the table was cleared and the show got underway. Marty was the opening act. It was so fun to see him perform magic after years of knowing him as Mr. Kaplan-Spanish teacher extraordinaire. He did a fabulous job as did the new two magicians. It was a very entertaining evening.
We spent Saturday at the beach with Andrew and his students. We took a bus to Calpe, which is a beach 2 hours south of the city. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed swimming and the change of scene. Calpe has a huge rock to climb and the boys loved hearing the "big" boys' tales of their climb. It did not sound easy, but Andrew told me that the views from the top are incredible. We showered and ate out near our apartment. It was a great day!
