While Andrew was busy teaching this morning, the boys and I joined our friend, Susan Kaplan, at the Fine Arts Museum. We took a bus, which dropped us right off in front. It always amazes me how the boys and I have been able to navigate public transportation. I think it because I did not grow up in an area with easy access to it. Pasadena is catching up, but it was not easy to take a bus back in the day. I enjoyed the museum, especially because I love Sorrolla, who is a famous artist from Valencia. I really hope to go to his museum (in his old home) when we are in Madrid. After a nice visit to the museum we strolled through the older part of the city and landed at Linares....ice cream! We said good-bye to Susan and met up with Andrew. We enjoyed lunch at home and in the evening we met up with our friend, Guillermo, and his son, Alvaro. We have a tradition of meeting Guillermo and his family at the Mercado Colon, which is full of cafes. We had a nice visit with them and then headed to dinner and late night gelatto near our apartment. We ended the night by inviting our friends over to play with the i-pads--oh, the universal language of kids (and dads?)-video games!!! It was great seeing friends today.
